Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
